- Charging by rubbing exp:
- Teflon rod, glass rod, silk and spinner
- Cork ball on two strings
Conduction and induction exp. on conductors:
- Gold leaf and UVa Electroscope - small
- Large Teflon rod to show induction
- Large Electroscope to see better
- Conducting ball on insulated rod stand, two of them, showing conduction and induction w/ UVa Electroscope wired to one of them
Induction on non-conductors:
- Bits of paper
- Two suspended balloons

Large and small Van de Graaff generator w streamers, needle, wire screen, and radio in the cage. (Same as today)
Gauss's Law demo with meter on overhead. Use camera instead.
Smoke detector. Useful because we are doing electric dipoles and that is basically how the smoke detector works.
LIndgren's electroscope and kit.

- Richard will use a homemade RC circuit (R=1000 ohm) (C=440 micro Farads) w/ 9V battery, two LEDs in parallel (opposite polarity) on Protoboard with two Multimeters to measure current in the circuit and the voltage across two 220 microFarad capacitors in parallel. The goal is to show a charging RC circuit and a discharging RC circuit. The above values were chosen to allow students to see the current and voltage change in real (slow) time on the multimeters.

- Today I will continue with the ac circuit board.
Set up resistor and coil in series.
Connect oscilloscope input across resistor for top display on screen
Connect second input of oscilloscope across inductor for bottom display on screen.
The object is to show phase difference between current and voltage.
Then repeat for capacitor and resistor in series.
I will not do RLC series until Wednesday. I'll just do the above two things today.
