PLEASE REQUEST DEMOS WELL IN ADVANCE

Due to Physics Building renovations, the lead time to set up demo requests has increased due to the need to transport equipment across campus. Please be kind and let me know well ahead of time what you need.

Use the PASCO "Wave Sticks" Demonstrator to illustrate transverse waves both reflected and not. This can also be used to demonstrate the dependence of wave speed on mass. The long spring may be attached to the lecture bench and stretched out, being hand driven to produce wave trains and standing waves. Our large coil "slinky" can be anchored on one end and excited on the other to produce both transverse and longitudinal waves. Alternatively one can use the sticks on the string apparatus to demonstrate the transverse waves.

Equipment:

  • Wave demonstrator
  • Slinky
  • Long Spring
  • Sticks on the string
