Interference of Sound WavesPurpose:To demonstrate the interference pattern produced by two sound sources of the same frequency.Procedure:Connect an oscillator (function generator) to each speaker and tune to 5 khz. By shifting their heads from side to side while plugging one ear with a finger, the students will be able to hear a definite interference pattern.Hints:One can use sound meter to see the variations of the intensity from spot to spot.Equipment:
