Purpose:

To demonstrate beats between sound sources of slightly differing frequencies.

The tuning forks can be made to differ in frequency by adding a small bit of wax to one of the tines. Varying the amount of wax used will change the beat frequency.

Equipment:

  • Identical Tuning Forks on Sounding Boxes
  • Wax
