- video - Standards of Measurement
(no meter sticks; INSTEAD: cardboard liter, cardboard cubic meter, 1 kilogram mass. Also: measure density of aluminum (aluminum, beaker with water, electronic scale, camera)

- video - Tablecloth Pull
(modified version--only need table, tablecloth, and Air Pro puck (maybe check battery?)ALSO: wood block to push
)
- photos - Knot in Static Equilibrium
(ALSO: Normal force demo (weight clamped to baby scale on plank whose angle can be changed. Want to show how normal force varies with angle.
)
- Force and Tension
(2 rolling carts for students to sit on and medium length piece of rope for them to pull each other.
ALSO: 2 fairly long springs for students to pull each other with
)

- Coefficient of Friction
(Don't need ramp. Instead: wooden box, string, Newton scale and weights to put in box (want to pull box along table and show how frictional force varies).
ALSO: Bloomfield's chair lift. ALSO: simple machine with pulleys in which weight is lifted by double the tension but half the distance
)
2000-02-11
- Fire Extinguisher Rocket Cart
(ALSO: bathroom scale with camera on readout.
ALSO: weight hanging (from ceiling if possible) with Newton scale attached--will set in pendulum motion and observe how force varies
)
- video - Air Table Collisions
(want puck to move in circle with string attached through hole to hanging weight to provide tension. ALSO: big LED stopwatch
)
2000-02-14
- Work Done by a Compressed Spring
(ALSO: roll ball down the longest red plastic track you have, so it ends rolling horizontal. want to see that ball's speed is roughly same as if dropped vertically through same height
)
2000-02-16
- Simple Machines
(the following please: hydraulic press with can to crush,simple lever, wedge with 2 blocks, car jack with clean cloth to cover (so student can sit on it), big LED stopwatch
)

(ALSO: air track with push-me-pull-you toy with arrow marking center of mass
)
- video - Center of Mass Toys
(gray and red leaning tower of pisa,3 story building which tilts, tricky styrofoam balls on wood rod,fork and spoon trick,yellow semicircle toy, mickey on tightrope,horse with hanging weight, large styrofoam with red and green lights

- video - Moment of Inertia Wheel
(with hanging mass and big LED timer. ALSO: torque wrench and wood with bolt to pass around. ALSO: big "spool and thread"
)

- video - Center of Mass Toys
(only need big "spool and thread." ALSO: pull bicycle wheel over a bump: tie strings to each side axle on the wheel, and attach Newton scale. Pull with horizontal force over a small bump (1 cm or so) and measure force needed to just start over bump. It should be approx given by the following formula: ratio of pulling force to weight of wheel= sqrt(2h/R) where h is height of bump and R is radius of wheel. The approx holds if h/R is small.
