- video - Van de Graaff Generator
(
I prefer the smaller van de graaff generator with appropriate accessories.I guess I would like to show the effect of a lightning rod by using a conducting needle.
Does the top metal dome come off easily to show how the the dome sits on a wire and can you see part of the belt )
- video - Fluorescent Bulb in Faraday Cage
(
I don't need the whole cage. just the flourescent lamp
I'll bring a small Faraday cage to wrap around the tube.)

- Two metallic spheres
+ and - circular paper charges if they exist
VDG stick and small butterfly metallic foil
i'll bring my usual kit
I want try to show induction using the two spheres and my electroscope to show the presence of charge induced on the sphere. Maybe I use the VDG stick to do the charging

- Hi Al,
I will use the same + and - charge props as on MOnday.
I will also need a piece of wood to use as a big arrow
See you soon

- I simply want to show a single lightbulb in series with a battery and resistor. The pencil is ok
I want the LED flashlight too.
I bought 4 lemons today to make a lemon battery and hope to use it to light a bulb that I have that operates at 1.5 volts. I tried 2 pennies and 2 Zinc coated nails to make it work on 2 lemons in series. Not much luck. I got 1 lemon to give me 0.22 volts but was unsteady
Do you have enough copper and Zinc for 4 lemons.
See you at 10:45 am to try to make it work
Richard
New news
I got it to work now, but I only get 0.5 volts per lemon. I should get about 1 Volt. I strung 4 lemons together and I get about 1.8 volts enough to light up my LED but not enough for a flashlite bulb.
I think my nail is not pure zinc. I think you may have some?? I am using copper pennies so that part is ok.
I'll bring more food. See you at 10:45
Richard
$$$$$$$$$
I got it to work I found some Zinc nails. I get 0.9V per lemon. Lights up LED but not my lightbulb.
3.7 volts for 4 lemons

(
Al,
If you have to cart this over from Physics, forge it. I can do without it. I'll be in around 10:45 am to 11:00 am
Thank you

- Line (discontinuous) Spectra
(
Hi Al,
I am really interested in showing the spectrum of Neon
since the book talks about it. Do we have it? If not anything with red will due. Do you have some diffraction gratings to pass out and we will return them. I don't have them any anymore.
I would like to have them use the diffraction grating to compare the spectrum from the arc tube with white light from an ordinary lightbulb.
The book talks about
copper atoms emit a blue-green spectrum
strontium emits deep red
sodium emits bright yellow orange
etc.
)
