1x 2x 4x Coils and Bar Magnet

Purpose:

To show electromagnetic induction in a coil of wire.

Procedure:

Coils are connected to galvanometer. Move the magnet in or out of a coil to induce a current shown by the reaction of the galvanometer. Demonstrate that current direction depends on magnet orientation and direction of movement. Also show that current amplitude depends from number of turns in the coil.

Hints:

Setup is placed on a overhead projector or document camera (ELMO).
