PHYS 3420 001: Electricity and Magnetism I

• I need two permanent magnets that can be safely allowed to attract each other. Beyond that, bigger is better, so big weak magnets would be best.
  
  These two demos will be used to discuss "magnetic fields do no work" - whereas electric fields do.

•  video  - Force on a Current Carrying Wire in a Magnetic Field
  (Al, can this be set up so that the wire jumps upwards? Maybe just a question of rotating the magnet, but depends how it is attached to the base.)

• Paramagetism demo with tungsten powder Diamagnetism demo with wooden dowel

• Meissner Effect (diamagnetic levitation)
  (Also the tracks, and let me use the 4-magnet square base too.)
