Calculate the critical distance peg should be placed so that the pendulum bob will loop around it. Move the peg until the bob just makes the loop and compare with the calculated value. Care should be taken so as to not break the string when the bob winds up on the peg. Drop the bob from a horizontal position for best results.

Equipment:

  • Meter Stick
  • Bob with meter long string (strong)
  • Stand
