PLEASE REQUEST DEMOS WELL IN ADVANCE

Due to Physics Building renovations, the lead time to set up demo requests has increased due to the need to transport equipment across campus. Please be kind and let me know well ahead of time what you need.

Resonant tunning fork

Purpose:

To demonstrate the sound wave resonances occurring in a closed column of air

Procedure:

Set up a resonant tunning fork apparatus connected to a PASCO wave generator set at low frequency (1Hz). Flip the switch that allows electric hammer to strike the tunning fork and start sliding the piston to observe resonances. Change the tunning fork and observe resonances occurring at different positions of the piston

Equipment:

  • Tuning Fork w/Resonator
