PLEASE REQUEST DEMOS WELL IN ADVANCE

Due to Physics Building renovations, the lead time to set up demo requests has increased due to the need to transport equipment across campus. Please be kind and let me know well ahead of time what you need.

Whirligig

Procedure:

A string is attached to a ball, threaded through a Plexiglas® tube and attached to a weight. The ball is then spun in a horizontal circle and the weight is released so that the gravitational force on the weight provides the centripetal force necessary to keep the ball moving in a circle.
