Sling Psychrometer (Relative Humidity)

Purpose:

To measure the relative humidity with a wet and dry bulb thermometer apparatus.

Procedure:

The sling psychrometer has two thermometers, one bulb with a wet sock dipped in water, that are attached to a swiveled handle. This allows one to whirl the apparatus around the air in order to make a relative humidity measurement of the air. Using a hygrometer table, the difference between the dry and wet temperature readings (t-t') gives us the humidity in % relative.
