PLEASE REQUEST DEMOS WELL IN ADVANCE

Due to Physics Building renovations, the lead time to set up demo requests has increased due to the need to transport equipment across campus. Please be kind and let me know well ahead of time what you need.

Electrical Fourier Synthesizer

Purpose:

To demonstrate the formation of a square wave by the addition of electrically generated harmonic sine waves.

Procedure:

Attach the scope to the output of the summing amp on the synthesizer. Following the equation for square wave analysis, adjust the amplitude and phase of each odd harmonic on the scope. If you use the values on the analyser a proper square wave will not result. Put all inputs into the summing amp and a somewhat noisey square wave can be seen on the scope.

Equipment:

  • Oscilloscope
  • Electrical Fourier synthesizer
