PLEASE REQUEST DEMOS WELL IN ADVANCE

Due to Physics Building renovations, the lead time to set up demo requests has increased due to the need to transport equipment across campus. Please be kind and let me know well ahead of time what you need.

Toilet paper gun

Purpose:

To demonstrate the Bernoulli Principle w/ bath tissue.

Procedure:

Removable PVC attachment is used to mount a roll of paper at the blower nozzle, paper unrolling on top away from blower. It allows rapid dispersal of the toilet paper. Aim the leaf blower with the mounted paper roll at 45 deg. and turn it on. Streams of toilet paper 30' long can be suspended in the air.

Hints:

Blowing air across the top of the roll reduces the pressure above the paper, thus lifting it. You can demonstrate this by holding a roll of paper, unrolled a few inches away from you, blow with your mouth and show the paper lifts and flutters in your wind.
