Heat Capacity using Wax and metal Balls
Purpose:To demonstrate heat capacity of different metals.
Procedure:Equal volume balls made of Aluminum, Lead, Brass and Steel, are mounted on a holder. Balls are heated to the same temperature by dipping them in a beaker with boiling water. Heated balls are placed on paraffin sheet, as shown. They melt completely through the paraffin, or only partially to different depths proportional to their heat capacity.
