Calorimeter

Purpose:

To calculate specific heat of a known metal.

Procedure:

A brass (or lead) ball is placed into boiling water to be heated to 100degC and submerged into a Styrofoam calorimeter with known amount of water. The temperature rise is then used to calculate the specific heat of the metal.
