Physics Demo Manual

Demonstrations are cataloged according to PIRA Bibliography

Due to Physics Building renovations, the lead time to set up demo requests has increased due to the need to transport equipment across campus. Please be kind and let me know well ahead of time what you need.

Qualitative Pressure Gauge

To show how the pressure in a liquid depends on depth.

A funnel with or without a diaphragm (cut party balloon) over the end is attached via a tube to a U-tube manometer. As the funnel is submerged, the increase in pressure causes the levels in the manometer to change.

Do not forget to uncork the free end of the manometer.
Much better quantitative results can be achieved if no diaphragm used at all.
