Light Pipe and Fiber Optics

Purpose:

To demonstrate the transmission of light by means of total internal reflection.

Procedure:

Place the pipe/bundle in front of the source and note the light that comes from the other end. The absence of any light from the edges of the pipe/bundle is good evidence for the high efficiency of the devices. The fiber optic bundle also has extremely good resolution but must be examined closely.
