Coupled Magnetic Oscillations

Purpose:

To observe magnetically coupled simple harmonic motion.

Procedure:

Balance magnets in the configuration shown below. After magnets are still, lightly tap one raised magnet and watch the oscillations, noting their transfer and damping.
