Purpose:

To give students an awareness of other non-intuitive solutions to the equation of motion for a driven pendulum.

Function Generator Driven Setup:
Start the pendulum oscillating at a frequency of about 20 Hz or so with a peak to peak amplitude of about 1 cm. At this frequency even if flipped by hand the pendulum doesn't stay inverted. Slowly raise the frequency. At about slightly above 25Hz, the pendulum can be flipped vertically and able to oscillate in a stable inverted position.
